Mata Najwa
The boldest host-based journalism program led by Najwa Shihab. Transitioning from a broadcasting program into a new ‘’digital’’ media form of ethical journalism represents the progress of our society. The challenges are how can we widen its reach of pillar topics while still upholding the roots and rearticulating its positioning in a classic yet adaptive contemporary manner. Communicating essence so that future generations can feel its relevancy and shaping their current critical mind into actionable, focused energy.
The visual identity implementations are explored with the keywords of classic and bold yet adaptive design sensibility. The classic, represented with vernacular serif in Indonesian typography, mixed with condensed letters in the journalistic editorial (which usually provide sufficient space to write), a bold feeling of typography representing Najwa Shihab voice, and also the neat and orderly graphic compositions to gives a trustable impression. While in contrast, the adaptive sensibility gives Mata Najwa a sense of digitalization, using accent of spectrum color line, smooth motion transitions, and flexible color depending on the topics. These combinations then created a new sensibility of rooted yet adaptive to changes in the progress of society. So, here are some of its implementation, both print, and screen, playing around in-between two polarities of design sense.
